We arrived safely in Siem Reap at 7.05am and most of the morning was spent on the team process time, a briefing on Khmer culture and learning a few basic Khmer phrases(by Cheryl), and an introduction (by Uncle Robert) to the book of James, the book on which our daily team devotionals are based. Nathan then spoke about sharing the word of God with the people of the world and illustrated his point using the story taken from Kings of the city under seige
After lunch, we met the street children and went down to Bunghaloe Park to play with them. A few of the girls played Twister, while others played a game which the Cambodian kids taught (a version of chatek fused with poison ball). This was probably the highlight of the day as we got to meet up with several street kids and some of them were kids we have not met before. They followed us to the park and then on to dinner.
Our team had dinner at the street side stalls. It was good cheap food (fried mama, fried rice and fruit shakes) and fellowship. After dinner, we went back to the guesthouse and washed up. We had our first team devotional in one of the bedrooms. The text was taken from James 1:2-6 and the topic was “Profit from your Problems”. We will be taking turns to lead these devotionals.
After team devotional, some of us went out to town while others went to bed. It had been a super long day starting at 3 something in the morning and ending at 11 something at night… but it had been a wonderful start to our AME trip.
Thanks for your prayers and keep us in your thoughts!
