AME Thanksgiving
To wrap up the AME trip, we had a Thanksgiving session on the Saturday after we got back from Thailand. The Soymilk + C team planned the program and made the arrangements for our parents to be present.
The evening started with Evangeline welcoming the guests and we praised God with Jeremy Tan leading us in songs. Different team members shared their reflections on the trip. Jeremy Chan started the ball rolling (Developing my relationship with the team) followed by Grace (Developing my relationship with the Thai Christians), Amanda Soo (Developing my relationship with the people in Cambodia), Kenneth (Developing my relationship with the people in Thailand), and Jeremy Tan (Developing my relationship with God).
A video of the AME activities done by Brendon and Kevin reflecting the trip was shown followed by P. Robert’s encouragement. Soymilk then sang “A New Anointing” for our guests.
Food was delicious and prepared by the families present. We ate and talked and had fun at the Bedok church garden. A birthday surprise for the Ang twins – Keith and Kenneth - ended the evening’s fellowship.
Indeed, we give thanks to God for a meaningful and encouraging AME. Blessed be His name!

Day 15 (04 Dec, Tuesday)
When we left for the airport, we were almost half an hour behind time. So it was a rushed trip to the airport.
We all decided to wear the ‘Same same but different’ t-shirts we bought as our Soymilk team t-shirts were already worn and dirty. Surprisingly, no one cried at the airport… no teary goodbyes for us. Because most of us would probably head for Chiang Mai again and experience P’ Robert’s new house.
What we’ll miss is the people. Most of them could not see us off as they had school… and Evan is ‘super, super, super sad.’
The cool weather and the low humidity. The cold wind lashing at our faces. Truck rides with loud singing and clapping. Table tennis. Late night devotionals. Warm kaya bread and milk drinks from P’ Little’s stall. Shopping. Baw Gaew kids. So many memories. So little time to write.
This AME was packed full of activities. We did a lot of the organizing like the English camp at Baw Gaew school, the English camp at the Zone and the Talent Nite… kept us busy for most of the time but we’ll always find time to eat, hang out with the Thais… especially with snacks at night.
Looking out at the fluffy clouds outside the airplane window, we realize how we have grown in so many ways... we have definitely come a long way from when we left and traveled in the opposite direction 2 weeks ago… It’s always amazing how much we can do and experience in just 2 weeks away from home… Thank God for the 2 uncles and Uncle Robert for making this trip possible.

Day 14 (03 Dec, Monday)
We had a late breakfast at Bake & Bites, a bakery restaurant near the Night Bazaar area. The food was good though we waited a while for our food.
Last minute shopping followed at Warorot market. We bought food items and souvenirs for our family and friends. It was off to Kad Suan Kaew mall after that for lunch and spot of shopping. Some of the girls went to have their hair done. We later met the man who custom made slippers and many of us bought a pair… some more!
We headed for P’Robert’s house after that and arrived at around 5 pm. We had fellowship with one another and the house cat, Gracie. Dinner of roast chicken and mashed potatoes, grave and salad prepared by P’ Jan was served at 7 pm. The food was delicious! Cell group ice-breaker, singing and devotional were led by Soymilk.
After cell, we headed for the Night Bazaar. Some had coffee while others did their final shopping. The trip back to the Zone was noisy and cheerful with wild singing at the back of the truck.
One last visit to P’Little’s milk shop. We stayed up late and played with the Thais till 2 am. After packing our bags, we started on our short sleep.

Day 13 (02 Dec, Sunday)
Sunday’s church day! We had a combined worship service with the Cheung Doi church and the kids from Baw Gaew. Uncle Paul preached on friendship. Andris and Brendon shared their testimonies about the AME at the singspiration following the worship service. Church ended with Soymilk+C ‘performing’ the last time.
We had a box lunch before heading for the handicapped Children’s home. We spent our time playing games, singing and helping the children draw.
It was then time to send off the Baw Gaew students. Some cried, other said their goodbyes with huge smiles on their faces. The time we spent with them was tiring but fruitful. We were encouraged by the enthusiasm they had in serving the handicapped children.

Day 12 (01 Dec, Saturday)
Very early, we boys were woken by Jeremoo’s alarm clock. Expectations for the day were super, super, suuuper high because the Bokeaw students we had spent the last two days with were coming to the Zone to stay. Right around eleven, the two yellow coloured ‘Rot Daeng' (literally Red Taxi) the kids were on pulled up outside the Zone. Our guys formed a guard of honour at the entrance to the Zone to welcome the kids. Next, we were led in some songs in the hall by Evan and Shermaine.
Immediately after that, we quickly ate Pizzas for lunch then rushed to the airport to send Sheena off. Cool as the weather was, (around 23 celsius), we bought Blizzards from the Dairy Queen at the airport for the kids. After our short visit to the airport, we took off and went to Kad Suan Kaew to take Neoprints and shop with the kids.
Havoc time at the Zone followed with an Amazing Race kinda game. Our 4 teams of Bogeaw students had a great time getting wet and dirty with all the fun!
Preparation for our talent night was after that. Everyone then squeezed into Uncle Robert’s pick-up and went to the nearby Carrefour for dinner. It even took 2 full loads for us to squeeze every one in!
When dinner was done, we took the pick-up back to the Zone for our Talent Night. Everybody participated and acted or sang. Near the end, we had a whole run of Thai songs and for that, everyone, including the Bokeaw kids joined in song.
